All practical projects of the Logistic Platform intend to realise
international door to door connections that use water and rail as
the main transport ways and that can compete with the same connections
by road transport only.
A prime cost component in this system is the intra regional transport.
Here congestion is the highest of the door to door system and here
the predictability of the time needed for the connection with the
enduser needs to be improved strongly.
The Logistic Platform will stimulate the set up of door to door systems
consisting of interconnecting shuttle systems: a barge shuttlesystem
within the Amsterdam Port Airport Area and connecting (for a large
part the existing) shuttle systems to the hinterland and overseas.
